Dear Family & Friends....

.....it's been a while...since my last post....

Lot's of changes....

But, in case you were wondering...I am STILL here creating!

I have had to put my travelling shows on hold temporarily...but 

StudioBeeCreations

is still up & running...and the BeeHive is a buzz!

I am currently concentrating on studio work...submitting for publications and design team calls....and of course, my etsy shop!

My blog appearance needs a little work...and I am hoping there is someone out there who can help me/advise how to tweek my appearance.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!...again!!

Oh....and it feels really...REALLY good!

 

I was able to travel to a show back in Tennessee(where we moved from 2 years ago) to participate in The Hayloft Barn Sale in Clarksville....WOW! what a wonderful venue!...met some new "junk friends"....and got to see some good old friends from our 17 years in Tennessee.

So......for some yummy SpRiNgTiMe inspiration:

 

I scored a box of VINTAGE wooden hangers at GW....my NEW GW that is just a mile from my house...loveeeeee....

 



 

Most of them had Mr. Fred Epting sharpied (is that a word) on them.....half were this type of suit/pants hangers...the other 1/2 were the spring load/clampy ones (no before pic!...sorry)

 

and sooooooooooooooo.......

 

I made up a huge assortment of DOUBLE-SIDED (kinda like a two-fer...gotta love that!) hangers that can be for displaying art...photos.....or even scrapbook pages (out of the books that no-one takes out to look at)....

 

They can be changed out so very easily...hang them around the house....one side has wordage..the other, assorted vintagey fun....

 

 

 

I used my ENDLESS supply stash of scrapbook papers...and applied with my FAVORITE medium of ModPodge....some assorted paints...and embellies....using what I have!

FLOWER POWER

 

What's this?...Well...actually something I have had sitting in one of my MANY "todo"

baskets for a few years....just waiting....and waiting.... for THIS:

 

OH MY GOODNESS!!!...such YUMMYNESS!!!!

...and a blast from the past!...a long, lost art of straw flowers!

From what I have read...these were creations made by women entrepeneurs from back in the 1960's.

I purchased a "kit" from Cathy Callahan several years ago....and because I bingbingbing thru many assorted crafts and mediums, it sat.......until NOW!

Getting back into the show circuit this year....I am already signed up for TWO awesome shows!!!

Revival Vintage Marketplace and Bella Rustica

both of which I am doing with my junk gypsy friend Wanda/The Grapevine Marketplace

AND........

my plan to build UP my etsy shop StudioBeeCreations is actually going to happen!

These sweet flowers...along with my mixed media canvases and paperdoll ARTBLOCKS...and MORE will be loaded into the shop SOON!!! Sooooo, if you cannot make it to the shows...be sure to shop ETSY...for handcrafted...homemade goodness...from the heart.

Here is "Autumn"...She is made from a "repurposed" Wilton cake round ( GREAT circle cardboard shapes!....I don't really BAKE...but I LOVEEEEE to CREATE!)

 

Covered with some scrapbook paper from my stash...and inked up a tad grungy.....

 

I found an OLDOLDOLD padlock in my box o junque....and thought..."OH my goodness...I see a FACE there!......added some spiral paperclips for her eyes...along with ribbons for her hair!

Also...from the "box o junque", a sweet leaf charm for her necklace.

Her dress, from a VINTAGE hankie...VERY AUTUMNAL.....and a cut of antique lace for her wings!

Tulip Tie-Dye and E-Book REVIEW

Okeeedokeeeee......so, this is my second attempt to get this post up and going........

I was asked to review a brand new Ebook put out by ilovetocreate.com

using a  Tulip Tie-Dye kit....its been MANYMANY years since  I tried my hand at tie dyeing.

I was sent the "kit"...and asked to make something...write supplies & instructions and post about it.

Soooooo.....I got together a couple of "blanks" from my stash...a Gerber Onesie and a bar cloth from Target....and went for it!

I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee the OMBRE look....so, following the AWESOME instructions ( seriously, I could not have explained it better!)..... I created these:

Just stopping in....

...to blogger world.....I have had 2 days off from my "day" job ( which is not really just a day job) at Lowes Home Improvement....We work a rotating schedule...so this was my "weekend off".....

Yesterday, I enjoyed a few hours of "brain candy"...those tv shows that are strictly for entertainment purposes...no thinking required....AND THEN.....while waiting for hubby to come home from his work...I had an energy drink ( @ 8:30pm.....WITW!!!!!???)...soooooo I was creating up a storm for the next few hours!....whoooowhooooo!

I have a store up north that has been selling my cards from StudioBeeCreations

...its awesome that anything I send them sells ( eventually...)....and she is always asking for more....

Soooooooo, today I have been ultra creative in the studio......getting ready to send out another package.....

Sooooo...this is what I started with...a little wooden carry-all, that has been in my stash for several years....an original from GW..I painted it shabbychic white and it stayed like that...BORING!

 I actually think it was for utensils, maybe...it measures 10"x8"x5".....and I took it from this:

Using techniques I have gleened from stalking Christy Tomlinson of ScarletLime and

JulieFei-Fan Balzer of Balzer Designs ...and pulling out stuff from my stash, I decorated the "tote" with paints, stamps, inks, ribbons, rub-ons....some vintage yo-yo's from my ETSY shop StudioBeeCreations, along with one of my NEW to the shop BLOOMERS!!!!

How much FUN!!!!...I also rescued a plain jane clipboard and made it feel the love of  Everything ALtered, with more papers from ScarletLime...

............and the "secret weapon".....

Looking for ME!

Soooooooooooooo...here is just a quickie post....so I can say that I did.....so that I can say what I am UP to!

Years ago....we owned and operated a home-based business we called Mama's Attic....It all started with taking the plunge...and taking my "wares" to a wholesale trade show in Kansas City. We got soooo many orders   that my hubby quit his job so that we could fill them.....and so the story goes that we continued to do trade shows..and local craft shows. We "evolved"......we made "stuff outta junk"...repurposing found objects aka: treasures from the past..."reborn" into  one-of-a-kind collectibles.

Mama's Attic sold to stores all across the USA, Canada, England and Japan ...and we even had a contract with Cracker Barrel stores, as well as being featured in Gooseberry Patch and Paisley Panda catalogs.

Fast forward...today.......due to the economy ( dont think I need to spell that out)...we had to join the outside workforce....and now both hubby and I work for a major home improvement store (check past posts)......That being said...I am soooooooooooooooo wanting to get back to my creative endeavors FULLTIME!

Jimminy Cricket!!...its been a month!

ALAS......another month has passed since my last post...WITW!!???

BUT!!....I have been uber bizzzy.....creating some new items for my sweet Canadian customer ( and friend for life) Connie....using bits and bobs from my stash...along with my awesome haul from Laura @ LillyBellesPaperie ......Yep...I should have taken a picture of all the awesome product, but, I was sooooo excited to jump in and create on my day off!....AND BOY HOWDY..did I ever have a blast!

FYI....for real...go visit her Esty shop....GREAT product...GREAT service!!

So...here is a card I created using LillyBelles  Color-Couture Cardstock,,,awesome quality....AND matching envies!!

I created my own paperdoll...cut from vintage book paper(aka recycled book from thrift store)...and then dressed her in October Afternoon Sidewalks paper pad....can you say yummy?!

I used a Martha punch, a vellum sticker from my stash...some trims and embellies and buttons all from.....yep!...LBP!!!

I used the same basic technique in paperpiecing with the gift tags:

I will be putting these all in my etsy shop StudioBeeCreations tonight....these cuties are OOAK...however...I can do similar designs!!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....(it has been a month of zero posts!)...here is a canvas I created using said paperdolls....LBP product....and techniques from ScarletLime Christy Thomlinson...AND Julie FeiFan Balzer Balzer designs....OMG...her stencils ROCK!!!!

This  saying is bittersweet....My Mother would always tell me this quote....when I was not behaving well....she passed away 10 years ago this month...and I miss her ......

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo....you just never know...who shapes your creativity.....

But, I for one....am LOVEEEEEEEEEin what I have!

Finally...I think I've got it!!!!

Well....I suppose I should get a picture posted of my new Bee Hive Studio...all -beeeeeeeee- it still a work in progress....but, I am actually getting some new projects accomplished....along with...."ahem" ...FINDING MANYMANYMANY projects still needing some "love".

Since I am transferring this coming week to a new Lowes store in Nashville, I have found myself in a most bittersweet position. There are some wonderful people I have met thru this journey I embarked on last April....and I am trying to come up with some handmade cards to give out this weekend.....along with perhaps some kind of "treat" bag or something ....haven't really figured this one out yet.

Here is one thank you card I came up with...using the FUNFUNFUN Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter my dd, Jenny gave me this past Christmas. I am embarrassed to say that it took me taking a Silhouette Class 101 at my local SBS, Memories in Bloom...plus a GREAT cheat sheet handout....and of course, the ever faithful help from dd to get this super sweet card created...a real TEAM effort....but, now , I feel very confident using it!...The possibilities are endless!!!

I used a bunch of scraps I had on my work table....along with some Stampin'UP! products. I LOVE this birdie I was able to download into my QK library....I will definitely be making alot more of these....just to have on hand...the sentiment can be left until the last minute....as needed.

FUNKY FEELING DAY.....

WOW...OK...I am trying to write a wonderful and uplifting post...and am having a FUNKY day...so, it is hard....working in the "outside work force" after all these years is ...hmmmmm...DIFFERENT than what I have been used to...exposed to.....It is a CHALLENGE to re-train a complacent worker-bee.......my mantra.....PRESS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....on a much brighter note: lookee what came from my FALL SWAP Partner, Mandy.....a FUN & YUMMY box of goodies.....THANKS, Mandy!!Fall is definitely my favorite time of year....LOVE the colors of the leaves changing...the brisk & crisp air....mmmmmmm!!...SO, this box was UPLIFTING!!!....Now...if I ONLY had a recipe for cookies that I can use the cookie cutters with ( I AM the expert : "drop a rounded teaspoon of cookie dough"...or slice 'n bake queen-bee baker)

Also....I am puppy-sitting for LAURA, whilst she is getting some much deserved R&R.....Miss Lillie Belle has taken over the STUDIO.....Miss Priss, she is in my comfy chair!
